The R&D Department at ION is where the pioneering ideas are tested.
By employing special pilot-plant equipment, the department makes a small-scale production in order to implement all necessary laboratory tests before new ION products reach consumers’ hands.
Among others, the R&D Department makes sure that the company complies with all requirements and standards concerning materials used, procedures and end products. It also provides technical support to professionals who select ION products, and cooperates with all other departments for the purpose of evolving along with contemporary needs and demands of consumers.
In order to ensure product quality, ION applies a quality control system and the HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) system, according to the requirements of international standards. What does this mean? It means that the production process is monitored by our highly specialised staff at all stages and levels, while all produced goods go through sensory evaluation, allowing the famous ION taste to be constantly tasteful.
The highest goal of strict requirements and intensive tests is to ensure health and safety for consumers and quality for the distinctive taste of ION that we all know and love.
ION’s international certifications follow the strictest standards and demonstrate the company’s commitment to quality. More specifically, ION has been granted the following certifications:
ISO 22000:2018 “Food Safety Management System – Requirements for any organisation in the food chain”. This is an international standard that ensures that HACCP processes are applied for food safety.
ISO 9001:2015 This is an international standard for the development, application and monitoring of a quality control system, emphasising the participation of the business’s Administration in the control process.
ISO 14001:2015 This is an international environmental management system for the adoption of business practices that diminish a company’s environmental footprint for the benefit of sustainability and sustainable development.
